And, a few announcements…

Jubilee Mennonite Church is inviting us to join them for a potluck meal on Saturday, June 8th @ 6pm at their church (365 Edelweiss cres). This is an open invitation to anyone who is interested in learning more about the refugee sponsorship partnership, wants to get more directly involved with the settlement team, or for anyone just interested in getting to know the Jubilee people a little better. If you are interested in attending, please let Cheryl know by May 31st, and she will pass along numbers and potluck info to Margaret (Jubilee settlement team leader).

One of the initiatives decided during our goal setting for building community through social interaction, is to have coffee and tea and other, between Sunday School and the worship time. If you are interested in being on a rotating list to get this organized on a Sunday morning, please talk to Jenn Baerg. It takes about 30 minutes to complete and a small cream donation. If you can remember your travel mug please bring along. Cups will also be available.

Teaching Opening at Mennonite Collegiate Institute: 1.0 FTE term position (September 2019 – June 2020) High school classroom teacher: senior level math and physics, (possibly with other courses) teacher sought. The CMU Spring Scholarship Contest is open to all high school and post-secondary students who are new to CMU and who have not yet received a scholarship. Three winners will be randomly selected. Winners may select from three prize options. The contest closes May 15, 2019. See

Mennonite Disaster Service Canada (MDS) has two exciting opportunities to repair or build new homes after disasters in Canada.
MDS: Westport, Newfoundland: MDS is building a house for a family of 5 who lost their home in a house fire in Westport, Nfld. The project begins on June 2 and will run till July 27, 2019. Weekly volunteers are invited to serve in up to two week blocks. If serving for two weeks MDS will reimburse the cost of travel. For scheduling call Lucille Toews at 866-261-1274 or email

MCM will be inviting us to pray for each of our sister churches over the coming months. This Sunday we pray for Grace Mennonite Church who is actively living into the exciting and unsettling changes that this post-Christendom season has brought to the people and space called Brandon. We’re a healthy congregation with a strong faith formation culture. The music, singing, and biblical storytelling inform and guide our interactive sermons as we encounter Jesus in our weekly worship gatherings. We’re also busy connecting with what God is up to here in the city through our ministries of employment and presence and outreach. Thank you Creator for this garden on which we live life!
