December 23, 2018 – 4th Advent

Focus Statement: We delight with Mary in the blessing bestowed on all God’s people through the gift of Christ, our Messiah, who comes to restore the world.

Scripture passages: Jeremiah 33:14-16 & Luke 1:39-55

Children’s time: Liz and the kids began by talking about how to decide which present under the tree gets to be opened first (some consensus on the biggest or prettiest). They then talked about how you couldn’t always tell what was inside the box just by how pretty or fancy it was on the outside. Sometimes, it’s unexpected, a surprise. God is like that too sometimes. Jesus’ beginnings weren’t necessarily very pretty or flashy, but the gift of Jesus is more wondrous than we can fully imagine or grasp.
